Updated news Ian has bought an Induction Furnace and he's got it working!
Why Casting ? I wanted to keep a firm control of the standard of parts that I am using to put my engine together, to this end, and after a lot of research, I have designed and built my own tilting crucible furnace (see phase 1). It reaches temperature up to 1800oC enabling me to melt iron, and cast my own parts. I have now decided this isn't enough and I wanted a more controllable furnace so have acquired a induction furnace and a generator to power it. Some of the patterns I have acquired from Bailey Lane Steam others have been made for me by my father-in-law, from drawings I have given him. (Thanks Ken!) |
